Shine Inclusive Day Nursery
Shine Day Nursery specialises in providing excellent childcare to children aged 2 to 5 years during term time. The nursery is designed to suit a wide range of play and learning activities within 2 large well-equipped rooms and children have access to 2 large outdoor spaces.
Our Aim is to provide full day-care in a fun, safe, secure, happy,
and stimulating environment, offering quality learning experiences for every child.
We recognise that early experiences lay the foundation to your child’s self-esteem, interaction, and motivation. Shine has adopted the Thrive approach and therefore, we are focused on nurturing and fostering positive experiences to support your child’s development every step of the way.

We are committed to the individual care of children, as we understand that each child is different. The nursery team have a wealth of expereince in supporting children with additional needs and work with, and form positive partnerships with families, other agencies, and a range of therapists to ensure each child can reach their full potential.
The setting is safe and secure, with CCTV in operation throughout the building.

Our Nursery Staff
Our friendly dedicated staff team are professionally trained to a high standard and qualified in their field. Our Nursery team is made up of Early Years Practitioners, who hold childcare qualifications from Level 2 up to and including Level 6.
Practitioners are committed to their continued professional development and will undertake additional training courses to further their development and skills. Additional qualifications and responsibilities include:
- Nominated CACHE Level 3 Senco (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) Award
- Nominated English as Additional Language Coordinator
- Paediatric First Aid
- Fire Safety
- Safeguarding the Welfare of Children
- Basic food hygiene
- Use of Sign-a-long
- Use of Visual Timetables, now and then boards
- Awareness and use of Picture Exchange System (PECs)
- Autism Awareness
- Nursery Manager is currently studying BTEC in supporting children with Visual Impairment

Shine follows a safer recruitment process which includes rigorous recruitment checks which are carried out and all employees are subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
Laura Budworth – Nursery Manager
My name is Laura and I have worked in Early Years for 20 years. I have an honours degree in Early Years. I also have Senco Level 3 and Elkan Speech and Language training 0-5 years. I am a big Disney fan and a chocoholic. I like to keep fit in my spare time and enjoy walking and running. My favourite story to read to children is ‘going on a bear hunt’ and my favourite nursery rhyme is ‘wind the bobbin up’.
Joanne Ross – Deputy Manager & Room Lead
I am the Deputy Nursery Manager and 2 year old Room Lead at Shine. I am also a Designated Safeguarding Lead. I have over 30 years experience working in a range of childcare settings and have completed my Level 4 Advanced Early Years Practitioner qualification. I have also completed my Early Years SENCO qualification and have a wealth of knowledge around supporting children with disabilities and additional needs. My experiences with supporting additional needs come from working in respite settings, supporting children on a 1:1 basis and also from raising my son. I am passionate about supporting children with their development and ensuring that our learning opportunities are inclusive. I enjoy welcoming children into the room and finding out all their likes, dislikes, and personalities. This helps me to provide unique care to each child, and form a bond with them so they feel safe and happy in the setting.
Nicola Beavers – Room Lead
My name is Nicola. I have worked at Shine for 7 years and I am Room Lead in the 3-4 year old room, which I find very rewarding. I like watching the children grow in confidence and like to help them feel secure and a valued member of our nursery. In my spare time I enjoy travelling, spending time with my family and going for long walks with my two dogs.
Kyia Goffin – Nursery Practitioner
My name is Kyia. I have completed my Level 3 in Health and Social Care and Level 3 in Childcare. As part of my course I completed work experience at Shine and have now been working in the 2 year old room for 3 years. During this time I have had additional training such as EAL and Attention Autism. I have two stepdaughters who I have stay on weekends and a dog who we love going on long walks with.
Sue Mcleod – Nursery Practitioner
I have a level 2 in Childcare and have been working at Shine for 9 years. I am a mother of five and a nanny to four grandchildren. Although I am one of the oldest members of staff I am still very young at heart, I feel that my life experiences out way my qualifications. I love nothing more than running around and joining in imaginary games with the children. I love to see the children’s faces when I turn up on special occasions in fancy dress such as ‘Pumpkin Sue’, ‘Christmas Elf Sue’ and ‘Easter Chick Sue’. Out of work I enjoy beach walks with my dog, spending time with the grandchildren, bingo and collecting gnomes!
Alisha Pettigrew – Nursery Practitioner
My name is Alisha. I am a Level 3 Practitioner. I have worked in Childcare for 4 years. I have worked in both the 2-3 year old room and the 3-5 year old room since working at Shine. I am always looking for new ways to develop my learning. I enjoy watching womens football in my spare time and spending time with family and friends.
Donna Reynolds – Nursery Practitioner
My name is Donna. After school I went to college and completed my NNEB training which then lead me to move from Birmingham to Norfolk to my first job as a nanny for a family with two boys. I then went on to work in many roles in different settings working with children from birth to 11 years old. I have since had three of my own children, one that travels the UK with a travelling circus. I enjoy messy play and creating new learning experiences. Through the years I have enjoyed developing my training which lead me on the path of children with SEND and I have a passion for helping them Thrive in everyday life experiences. I also work with the Short Breaks Team at Shine and enjoy working with a wide range of age and abilities.
Naomi Smith – Nursery Practitioner
I am Naomi, I have worked at Shine for 2 years. I work in the 3-4 year old room and often cover in the 2 year old room. I have two nieces and a nephew who I enjoy to spend time with and take on days out. I also enjoy singing on karaoke.
Kirsty Garnham – Nursery Practitioner
I am Kirsty. I have over 10 years experience of Early Years and Childcare work. I enjoy being a part of the children’s learning and development. I enjoy messy play and fun games. In my free time I like to read and go on adventures with my daughter and family.
